Man abducted and looted; police nab accusers

Mangalore: A man was arrested by the Pandeshwar police for abducting and looting a traveller near the railway station, on Saturday October 25.

The arrested has been identified as 19-year-old Santosh Kumar D’Silva from St Joseph’s Nagar Jeppu. He allegedly looted a travelled named N Sajan from Kottayam, two months back.

According to the police, on August 27, Sajan from Kottayam who had been to the city for work purpose was returning home. On the way to the railway station, a white Maruti Omni forced him into the car.

The car had five people including Santosh Kumar who was driving. The gang took Sajan to an isolated place and looted him; they further more snatched his ATM card and withdrew Rs 27,000.

Sajan later wrote a letter to the police commissioner and posted it. The police commissioner who took the issue seriously instructed the Pandeshwar police to pursue the matter.

On Saturday the police nabbed few members of the gang along Santosh Kumar, when he was driving the Maruti Omni with the number KA 19 M 8806 near the railway station. However the integration is still in process.
