Manglauru: Top RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who is generally known for delivering antagonistic speeches, is likely to miss the much hyped Hindu Samajotsava, which is scheduled to be held in the city on March 1.
As many as one lakh people are expected to attend the Hindu Samajotsava, which is organised to celebrate the golden jubilee of the Vishwa hindu Parishad (VHP).
However, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, who was part of most of Hindu conventions in the city, may not address the crowd. Moreover, the invitation too does not mention his name, despite his popularity within the Hindu community in the region.
A section of the society claims that Bhat is known for making aggressive and high voltage speeches, thus promoting ‘communal hatred’. In addition to it, several organizations too have registered cases against him for instigating violence. B. Ramanath Rai, who openly criticized his speeches, had promised to take action against him ‘at an appropriate time’.
Besides, the district administration had clearly warned the organizers to refrain from delivering provocative speeches, during several rounds of peace committee meetings ahead of Hindu Samajotsava.
This could be one of reasons why the name of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat does not come in the invitation. Besides, when reporters had enquired about it during the press meet, Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Jagadish Shenava had said that Bhat would not be speaking at the convention as he already spoke at Puttur virat Hindu sangam.
When asked over phone, Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat told newskarnataka.com that he won’t be speaking at the convention on March 1. “The aim of holding convention is not to brand one particular person. Issues are more important to us. It’s not a political programme. RSS is known for discipline. I have already spoken in the past. Hence, I will not be speaking again on March 1”, the RSS think tank said and added that he will be part of a similar function in Karkala and will be making a short visit to the city.
But, another source in the RSS said that Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat might speak. “Without his speech, there is no spark at the Hindu convention. Hence, Bhat may speak as translator. Since, the key speaker Sadhwi Balika Saraswati from Madhya Pradesh will be addressing the crowd in Hindi and Bhat may speak as translator”.
However, Vijaya Vittalanatha Shetty, president, Swarna Mahotsava Utsava Samiti told newskarnataka.com that his name was not mentioned during any committee meetings.
The invitation states that Pejawar Mutt seer Vishvesha Tirtha will speak on behalf of at least twenty seers who will be part of the convention and Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala D. Veerendra Heggade will deliver presidential address.
A source said that Karnataka’s Senior RSS Pracharak Gopal Nagarakatte is going to deliver an important speak, who too is known for making aggressive speeches.
