Mangaluru: Five persons were arrested on Tuesday for creating communal tension in connection to the formation of religious buntings at KC road, in the Ullala police limits, recently.
The police have seized at least five petrol bombs, from the miscreants, belonging to the pro-Muslim organizations.
The arrested are Abdul Sathar (33), a resident of KC Road, Talapadi, Niyaz (30), Mohammed Naseer (28) of Talapadi, Moahammed Basheer (36) and Shabeer Ahmed (30).
It’s learnt that the miscreants were trying to create communal unrest, ahead of Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) Hindu Samajotsava.
Soon after the clash at KC Road, several shops mostly belonging to Muslim community were set ablaze by unidentified miscreants. It led to communal tension for some time in the region.
Besides, miscreants also pelted stone on the casing of Mother Mary statue of St. Joseph Vaz Prayer Centre, which is located very close to the region in Deralkatte.
The police had formed a special team that later successfully nabbed the culprits on Tuesday.
Petrol bomb
It’s also learnt that the five arrested had prepared petrol bombs, with bottles filled with petrol and some amount of sand. A source in the police said that the miscreants wanted to create communal tension in the area.
Meanwhile, U.T Khader, MLA of the constituency and State Health Minister congratulated the police for successfully nabbing the culprits, who engaged in creating communal clash.
