Mangaluru: Holding broomsticks and shouting slogans against the MRPL, the members of Nagarika Horata Samiti, Jokatte staged a protest in the premises of Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Mangaluru on Monday.
Addressing protestors Muneer Katipalla, state president of DYFI said the administration has taken action against the innocent residents of Jokatte for protesting against ONGC-MRPL, which is polluting the villages. However, the administration has taken no action against these company representatives for polluting the village.
Neither, the ministers have visited the village nor consulted the residents about it, he added.
The police have registered four cases, holding over eight people guilty of entering the gate of MRPL-ONGC. But, the administration is quiet even after the residents have continuously protested against the air and water pollution by MRPL, Katipalla said.
He also alleged that the police are supporting the MRPL and not the residents. “Nagarika Samiti will not keep quiet until the administration comes out with a solution”, he concluded.
