Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District in-charge minister B. Ramanath Rai on Wednesday said the organizers of Hindu Samajotsava are asked to maintain peace. Strict action will be taken against them, if the convention promotes communal hatred and clash, he said. The Hindu convention, which will be held on March 1, is expected to bring together over one lakh participants.
Speaking to the reporters here in the city, the minister said that the district administration and the police held two rounds of meeting with the organizers. They have promised to uphold peace in the region, following the convention. We have had a bad experience to district after a Hindu convention in Puttur, which led to communal clash, he said giving another example of communal clash which broke out in the neighboring Kasargod district.
Mr. Rai also said additional police personnel will be brought from the neighboring districts and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras will be installed in sensitive places. Besides, every police station will keep vigil to stop any major outbreaks, he added.
He further said that the organizers to conclude the convention by 5pm.
