Mangalore: Several students led by Akhila Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) took to a procession after Mangalore City police did not act swiftly to their complaint. The protest which started from Jyothi circle culminated outside the police commissioner’s office on Tuesday, September 23.

The students demanded stringent action against an anonymous user who created a Facebook page titled, ‘Sexy Models and Hot girls’. The page consisted of several photos of girls belonging to different colleges, published without  permission with filthy and obscene titles, protestors said.

We approached the commissioner of police five days ago to register a complaint and take action against the unknown user. However, the commissioner did not respond suitably, according to Amin Kotian, state assistant secretary of ABVP.

Kotian said there are no satisfactory convictions for cyber crimes. This only encourages people to misuse technology. He also urged the authorities to look into fake Facebook accounts.
