‘Etyel Grestkai’ held in memory of renowned writer A T Lobo

Mangalore: The A T Lobo Foundation, Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy and Raknno Konkani weekly newspaper jointly organized ‘Etyel Grestkai’ on Sunday July 27, here at Bishop’s House hall.

Fr Mark Walder, the former editor of Raknno Konkani weekly addressed the audience during the program, which was oriented on the works of renowned Konkani writer the late Apollo Thomas Lobo, popularly known as A T Lobo.

Speaking about the writer, he said that A T Lobo was a helpful person and his writings always upheld social values. His short stories and novels have always been cherished by people including me.

His Konkani periodicals were awaited by people and his writing was strong and outspoken that we miss. A T Lobo retained the Konkani culture, he said.

President of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino delivered the presidential address. Roy Castelino felicitated eight students who studied Konkani as the third language and secured distinction in Konkani language in the SSLC exams during the occasion.

Dr Edward Nazareth presented an analysis of A T Lobo’s novel, ‘Tun Boro Za’, Dr Carmelita D’Souza analysed A T Lobo’s play ‘Avunkvar Avay’, and Fr Melwyn Pinto Neerude presented an analysis of two stories by A T Lobo, ‘Hardyar Khuris’ and ‘Reedh’.

Raknno Konkani weekly editor Fr Francis Rodrigues, eminent Konkani writers Eddie Netto, C G S Taccode and others were present.
