Estranged husband kills father-in-law

Bantwal: In a shocking incident, a married man allegedly murdered his father-in-law, recently, after he had an argument with his wife. He is said to be absconding.

The accused 32-year-old Qasim, a resident of Adkarpadpu-Badiyar allegedly smashed his father-in-law’s head with a grinder stone when he was asleep over a quarrel with his wife on November 12, and fled from the spot. The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Yakub from Dasakody Kallaje in Kadeshivalaya village.

Accordingly Qasim married Jameela daughter of Yakub, however they had a bad marriage. Qasim and his family ill-treated Jameela due to which she has left him and returned to her father’s house. Qasim enraged with this had decided to murder his wife.

On the day of murder, Yakub had slept on the veranda of his house. It is reported that Qasim entered the house on November 12 and allegedly dropped grinder stone on Yakub’s head. On hearing the loud scream, neighbours and family members woke up. They found Yakub in a pool of blood, while they also saw a man escaping from the spot.

The police are in search of Qasim after getting details from his wife and her family. It is learnt that Qasim had told his wife that he would murder Yakub.

Bantwal police have registered a case and investigation is on.
