Kasargod: A one-and-a-half-month-old boy afflicted with hydrocephalus (abnormal growth of head), died on Thursday at his residence in Enmakaje village, an area with high density of endosulfan victims, in the Kasargod district.
The deceased baby has been identified as Lohith, son of Sundara Naik and Thara of Pathaje, near Perla. He was born in a hospital in Mangalore on September 13 with abnormal head size and thin body.
The child, given birth through a caesarean section, was born without the left ear and eyelids.
The infant had undergone treatment at the intensive care unit of the hospital for around three weeks and the expenses for his treatment were borne by the district administration and the endosulfan rehabilitation cell of the district administration.
