Mangalore: The Dog lovers cherished the day as the first of its kind dog show event was hosted by Karavali Canine Club (KCC), Mangalore in association with the 28th and 29th All Breeds Championship Dog Show of Bangalore Canine Club, at at Nehru Maidan on Sunday February 16.
State executive member of BJP Srikar Prabhu inaugurated the show, participated by 253 dogs consisting of at least 36 breeds out of which 70 participants were from Mangalore itself.
Reportedly the criterion for judging is said to be the confirmation test and handling, and not the obedient test. The best eight breeds will be short listed and appraised.
Dog breeds such as Miniature Pinscher, pug, Fox Terrier, Bull Dog, Dalmatian, Afghan hound, Dachshund, Irish Setter, golden retriever, Labrador, spaniel cocker, boxer, Dobermann Pinscher, Rottweiler, St Bernard, Siberian Huskie, German Sheperd and others were part of the show.
C V Sudarshan, Rajiv Shandilya of New Delhi and Kenneth Chuah of Malaysia were the judges. Vice-president Manoj Narvekar and secretary of KCC Prasad Aithal were present.
