Kasargod: The alleged negligence of a doctor claimed the life of a 4-year-old girl at Badiadka here on Tuesday July 22.

The deceased has been identified as Geetha (4), daughter of Babu and Sumathi. They are residents of Peradala Koraga colony and belong to Koraga community.

As Geetha was suffering from heart disorder, she was admitted at Pariyaram Medical College a few days ago. After the operation the doctors merely discharged the child and advised Geetha’s parents to take her and rest at home.

On Sunday July 20, she again fell sick. The child was then taken to Badiadka Community Health Center where allegedly, they did not conduct a preliminary test. It is alleged  that though there were doctors there, she was sent back home without even being examined.

The child’s father said that even though she was taken to a private hospital, after not being given treatment by the government hospital, it was too late and she did not respond to the treatment.

Mahin Kelot, president of standing committee of Badiadka panchayat has urged legal action against doctors as two months ago another patient named Kamala had died here. Moreover he also urged the health department officials to look into the matter as there are several complaints that deadly contagious diseases have spread in Badiadka colony.
