Mangaluru: A 20-year old patient from Bantwal has reportedly accused a doctor of raping her, at his residence on January 8. The woman belongs to the Dalit Community.
According to the police, Dr. Preetham Rai, who has a clinic at Karangalpady asked the 20-year old woman to come to his house on the pretext of medical examination. However, she was allegedly raped at his residence, the police added.
Though the incident occurred on January 8, the complaint was filed in the Women’s police station, Pandeshwara on January 23. The investigation has been handed over to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Central) K. Tilakchandra.
It’s learnt that the doctor, who is accused of rape, has absconded.
