District congress plea to shift DC office at Alape-Padil

Mangalore:  With the aim to make space near the State bank circle, the Congress district administration urged that the office of deputy commissioner be shifted to Alape-Padil.

In a press meet held on Tuesday August 26, Ivan D’Souza said that district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, ministers and the MLAs of the party are to propose for this purpose and a 5.89 acres of land has already been identified in Alape-Padil, said Ivan.

With regards to the budget, the state government has allotted Rs 25 crore to each of these districts, the state government had released Rs 135 crore to construct separate DC offices in as many as six districts in the state, he added.

Adding to the details Ivan said that it will also develop the outskirts of the city, and around 25 other governmental offices will be placed under one roof.

Ivan D’Souza also seconded the proposal of MLA J R Lobo to grant holiday on the Feast of Nativity which falls on September 8. “It is a family feast, hence holiday is necessary,” he said.

Shashidhar Hegde, Kodijal Ibrahim, mayor Mayabala Marla were among others present at the press meet.
