Derogatory comments against Christians, FB account holder booked

Mangaluru/Shimoga: Objecting to the derogatory comments posted on social media targeting Jesus Christ and Christian beliefs, Indian Catholic Youth Movement approached city police commissioner S Murugan on Monday, requesting to register against a Facebook account holder.

The complaint said that the comments allegedly posted by a person named Shriram Yadapadithaya from Bangalore, insulted Jesus and Christian beliefs which had hurt the sentiments of the community. The delegation lead by director of ICYM Fr. Ronald D’souza on the directions of Murugan filed complaint at the Pandeshwar police station.

The police promised to book the accused under the appropriate law. The delegation comprised of Roy Castelino, Fr J B Crasta, Stanley Alvares, Sheldon Crasta, Jackson Saldana, Sandeep Monteiro. The members opined that such posts on the social network incite violence and disrupt communal harmony.
