Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim  has assured to take an early decision on opening day care centres for mentally challenged girls in all taluk headquarters of the district in order to  prevent them from falling prey to unscrupulous elements in the absence of their poor parents who leave  them alone at home  while going for work.

The DC also said he would hold talks with the departments concerned in this regard.

The DC gave this assurance to a delegation of the Mangalore branch of the  Karnataka State Special School Teachers and Non-Teachers Association which met him at his office on Thursday July 24 and made a request to open a day care centre.

Vasanth Kumar Shetty, General Secretary of the Association and other office bearers were present.
