Bantwal: A pickup van which was illegally transporting cattle fell in drainage, in a chase with the police here at Punacha village near Ajjinadka on August 26.
On Tuesday morning, around 9 cows were illegally transported in a pickup van from Punacha to Vittal.
On receiving prior information from reliable sources on the on-going the police chased the vehicle and planned to stop them near Punacha.
Seeing police, the van driver lost control due to high speed near Sankesha cross near Ajjinadka and it overturned, in the mishap cattle got injured.
The driver and other accused have escaped from the spot, however the cattle was seized by the police.
