CM: Progress of one caste will not bring equality in society

Mangaluru: “If an individual becomes too much communal or fundamentalist, then he not only destroys himself but also the entire surrounding”, said Chief minister Siddaramaiah here at St Joseph Vaz shrine on April 24.

Speaking during his visit to the shrine, he said, people should oppose those who try to disturb peace and harmony in society in the name of religion. Those who sow the seeds of hatred are not the protectors of the religion, he added.

He handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakh for the development of the shrine on the occasion. Earlier, Mangalore diocese bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul Dsouza said that the Christian Development Board should be made as Christian Development Corporation. He also sought help from the state government to issue NOC to Fr Muller institutions for seeking deemed university status.

Siddaramaiah participated in the Uroos celebrations at Sayyed Madani Dargah in Ullal and said the government would grant funds for the Community Hall being built on the premises of the Dargah. He also laid foundation stone to a destitue home building of Al Madeena Islamic Complex at Manjanady

During his visit he laid foundation stone for Hira Women’s PU college at Babbukatte he said the country can be developed only when women are educated and empowered. Education must not be commercialised and the students should develop scientific temperament.

Cheif minister also visited Sri Rajarajeshwari Siddivinayaka Temple at Kuthar and assured funds for the consruction of a hall in the temple premises. He said the socio-educational which is being conducted in the state will benefit all the weaker sections of the society. It will also help the government to implement welfare programmes for the needy and bring them to the mainstream of the society.

He denied the allegations made by few saying Chief minister is divding the society through caste census. He said it is a way to unite the society not to divide. The state government is committed to the welfare of all irrespective of caste, creed and religion. The progress of one caste will not help to bring equality in the society. The state government has given stress for the inclusive growth for the development of Karnataka.

CM visited Mangaluru city for the inauguration of various developmental programmes.
