Bantwal: A 23-year-old gram panchayath employee committed suicide by jumping in to a pond near her residence here at Muchirapadau in Peruvai village.
Akshatha, daughter of Ananda is the deceased. She was working as permanent staff at the Peruvai gram panchayath. On Tuesday, she returned home in the afternoon complaining of headache. But she jumped into a pond near Muchirabettu in Peruvai. Immediately locals informed Bantwal fire personnel but she had died when the body was retrieved.
The exact reason for her action is yet to be ascertained. The body has been shifted to hospital in Deralakatte for autopsy. Vittal police have registered a case in this regard.
