2009 Pub attack: Govt files suo-moto, Muthalik appears in court

Mangaluru: “The Congress government with its anti-Hindu ideologies has reopened the 2009 pub attack case,” said Right wing outfit Sri Ram Sena’s chief Pramod Muthalik, after he appeared in the second JMFC court on Saturday, December 20.

Pramod Muthalik appeared in the court with connection to the 2009 pub attack case. The case that was filed by the state government – suo-moto case – and probe is ordered.

However, accusing the Congress party, he informed, “The state government has also reopened the 2008 church attack case and discarded the Someshekar Commission report with the intention to set up a new commission to probe the attacks.”

Continuing to speak about minorities, Muthalik said, “Muslim and Christian are always favored by the congress party. Sonia Gandhi came to India as a Christian, and for 10 years she supported Christians’ through various central and state facilities. We have records to prove this, and we will fight against it,” he added.

It may be recalled that in 2009 Pramod Muthalik was arrested on January 24, 2009 in the connection to the Mangalore pub attack case, was later released on conditional bail by a local court. Later, Muthalik described his release as a victory for the agitation against the pub culture.

“This is a victory for all those who are fighting against pub culture in Mangaluru. Our agitation has won, whatever we have done in Mangaluru is a big success story in out fight against indecency. We are thankful to our Mangalore cadre for everything that they have done,” he said while addressing a press conference in the year 2009, then.
