Suspend Ambareesh from Assembly, JDU writes to Speaker

Mandya: Janata Dal (United) has written a letter to the Assembly Speaker demanding suspension of Mandya MLA Ambaresh from the post.

JDU District President B S Gowda has written to Speaker Koliwada pointing out that since Ambareesh has remained absent at the Assembly proceedings continuously after he lost his cabinet berth and since he has not been performing as an MLA in an effective manner, there was a need to suspend him from the post.

In his letter, Gowda has said that Ambareesh has become ‘passive’ and has not been attending to the needs and demands of his people. Further, he points that Ambareesh’s inclination to attend the proceedings of the Assembly has always been less, even when he was a minister, but it came to nil after he lost his berth.

Gowda said that despite having been elected from Mandya, Ambareesh continues to live in Bengaluru most of the time and the people of Mandya have to wait for his arrival to the constituency to meet him. This, Gowda said can backfire on Ambareesh in next polls as people in general have developed a sense of distrust on him.

Ambareesh’s evident disappearance from state’s active politics scenes had fueled a lot of speculations that all is not well between Ambareesh and CM Siddaramaiah. There were rumours that Ambareesh was planning to quit the Congress and join the BJP.

However, a recent meeting between the actor-turned-politician and the CM have laid to rest all the speculations.
