Mandya: The Mandya police nabbed a gang of 9 members thieving teak logs and seized stolen logs along with the vehicles employed valued over Rs 80 Lakh, in a swift operation.
Disclosing the details, Superintendent of Police K Radhika said a special team was formed to nab the accused after a case was registered under section 379 IPC at Besgarahalli police station.
Ramakrishan, a resident of Lalghatta in Channapatna, H S Siddaraju of Harisandra village, Chaluva of Sonahalla village in H D Kote taluk, Nandish of Saragur, Ashif Pasha of Kalyanagiri in Mysuru and Sayyed Nasir of Mandi Mohalla were nabbed and remanded to judicial custody.
In addition, Rehmathullah Khan of Shantinagar in Mysuru, Faiyaz Pasha of Mandi Mohalla and Syed Azghar were nabbed from Srirangapatna, Nidaghatta in Maddur and Mysuru cities respectively and have been lodged in Mysuru jail, SP revealed.
Around eleven cases are pending against the accused in Besagarahalli, Malavalli, Mandya rural, Kirugavaulu, Belakavadi, Shivalli and Keregodu police stations.
Police confiscated 2 Canter vehicles, 1 car, 1 auto rickshaw and 1 motorcycle used in thieving operations by the accused.
