Madikeri: Close on the heels of a youth being brutally murdered late on Wednesday evening at Kannandabane extension in the city, the police arrested one person in connection to the case on Thursday.
Accused -Karthik
The deceased is Gokul, a resident of Kannandabane and Karthik, a resident of Chamundeshwarinagar is the accused.
It is said that Gokul was returning home on his bike when a gang that came in an auto waylaid him and assaulted him. Grievously injured Gokul died on the spot.
The police had sprung into action instantly and within 24 hours, the cops managed to nab Karthik. It is said that the police spotted Karthik hiding himself in bushes in an isolated area and took him into custody at about 4 am on Thursday.
It is said that the killing of Gokul has its root in the recent clash between two groups of young men in the city.
With this incident, the locals have alleged that the police are patrolling only the main roads in the city while the interior, isolated pockets are becoming safe haven for anti-socials.
