Madikeri: Tipu Jayanthi Virodhi Horata Samiti has called for a voluntary bundh on November 10 as the state government has refused to budge down to the demand of the Kodavas of stopping the Tipu Jayanthi celebrations.
Addressing the news conference Samiti President Abhimanyu Kumar said that all the organisations, commercial establishments, chamber of commers, vehicle owners and drivers, plantation owners and workers and all citizens of Kodagu have decided to support the bundh.

“We intend to hold a ‘jail bharo’ protest as well. Cases have been slammed against 600 people under Section 107 for protesting against Tipu Jayanthi. Cases are filed even for holding press meets. The government is stifling the freedom of expression of the people,” he said throwing  challenge to the government to arrest each and every person in Kodagu because everyone is against the state government’s decision.

Kumar said that in a place named Kakkabe in Kodagu, Muslims are opposing Tipu Jayanthi.

He said that the Samiti will support the bundh called for by the BJP on November 8.

Samiti Vice-President Ravi Kushalappa said that on November 10, prayers will be offered at village levels in memory of VHP Pramukh Kuttappa, who lost his life in a chaos that broke out last year due to Tipu Jayanth in Kodagu.
