Madikeri: Close on the heels of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promising to send revenue minister to Kodagu to find solution for Diddalli crisis, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa visited sites at Basavarahalli, meant to re-locate the tribals from Diddalli, on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters, Thimmappa said that the government is committed to rehabilitate the displaced tribals of Diddalli at sites identified in Basavanahalli, Madalapura-Byadagottu and Kedamulluru.

“The government is committed to spend any amount to develop these sites and rehabilitate the tribals, but the tribals are not willing to occupy the sites. I cannot believe that these kinds of people exist,” he said alleging that a section of people is toiling very hard to keep the Diddalli crisis alive.

“Don’t the tribals deserve to come to mainstream? It is time the tribals introspected on this issue and took a call,” he said.

He informed that the government will be building houses in the sites as well.
