Madikeri: A man died on the spot when a goods-laden truck toppled near Jodupala on Madikeri- Mangaluru Highway today.
Hemaraju (36), a resident of Jodupala is the deceased.
Hemaraju walking on the road to fetch milk was hit by the truck, (KA-01 AC 6844) when the driver lost control over it near Jodupala. Hemaraju failed to save himself despite taking evasive action to avoid the truck, it is gathered.
Madikeri Rural Police have registered a case against the truck driver named Shamsheer. The truck was on its way to Kasargod from Bengaluru when the accident took place.
People led by Zilla Panchayat President Harish protested demanding compensation for the deceased and vented out their anger on the road condition where the accident took place.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Richard Vincent D’Souza and DySP Sundar Raj visited the mortuary and pacified the protestors.
