Madikeri: Kodagu district Central Co-operative Bank has scripted history by bringing in ‘Rupay Kisan Cards’ for as many as 34,000 farmers .
Addressing a news conference, Bank President B D Manjunath said that the distribution of the Rupay Kisan Card is the first of its kind in the state.
The card will be distributed on February 17 at Crystal Hall by Nabard Karnatka Region Chief M I Ganiga in presence of Deputy Commissioner Richard Vincent D’Souza.
He said that the bank will continue its focus on providing credit to agriculture and agriculture-related activities. The cards would be given to existing customers and it can be used anywhere in the country. The Rupay cards are e-commerce supported and hence the card holders can have online transactions as well.
The bank has decided to offer POS machines for the farmers and five ATMs will be opened by the bank in Kushalnagar, Gonikoppa, VirajpeteCentral office of the bank and College road.
