Madikeri: The district administration has imposed Section 144 in wake of protests planned by Diddalli tribals. The Section 144 would be imposed in Madikeri as well on Friday.

The prohibitory orders will be in force in Chennangi and Maldare GP limits till Saturday 6 am, said Deputy Commissioner Dr Richard Vincent D’Souza.

The tribal organisations have planned a massive protest on December 23, where over 5,000 people are expected to participate and this move has been taken keeping the protest in mind.

Meanwhile, the intelligence wing has indicated the possibilities of Maoists from Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu taking advantage of the crisis existing in Diddalli and convincing the tribals to join the movement. Hence close tabs would be kept on movement of people into Diddalli area.

Sale of alcohol has been banned in Chennaiahkote, Palibetta, Siddapura and nearby areas from Thursday 6 am to Friday 12 mid night.
