Diddalli crisis: Revenue Minister to visit Kodagu to find amicable solution

Bengaluru/Madikeri: Revenue minister Kagodu Thimmappa will visit Diddalli and other areas of the district on April 17 and 18 to find a viable solution to the impending Diddalli tribal issue, said Amin Mohsin representing tribals.

Announcing the outcome of the meeting chaired by the state Chief Minister Siddaramiah with all stakeholders in the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha, Amin Mohsin said, the revenue minister will camp in the district for two days on April 17 and 18 and will resolve the Diddalli, Palemadu and Cheriyaparambu issues simultaneously.

In order to resolve the issue locally, the Chief Minister has asked the Revenue minister to visit the district in person and the government has agreed to take back C and D categorized lands, Mohsin stated.

In case of suitable evidence of land not coming under the control of state forest department, Diddalli Evacuees will be rehabilitated in the same area failing which alternate land to the tune of 3 acres and shelter will be provided to deprived tribals, Mohsisn mentioned revealing the details of the deliberations.

The Chief Minister has assured to look into the issue of bonded labour (Jeeta system) that exists in the district on compassionate grounds and those deprived of sites and shelter can continue to submit the applications, Mohsin noted.

From the government side Revenue minister Kagodu Thimmpaa, forest minister Ramanath Rai and Social welfare minister H Anjaneya accompanied by senior officials from the respective ministries heard the pleas of the tribal representatives.

Tribals were represented by advocate A K Subbiah, freedom fighter H S Doreswamy, Progressive writer Gowri Lankesh,Muttamma, Sharif, Appaji, K Monnappa, Padmanabha and Appu.

Committee convener D S Nirvanappa, Sirimane Nagaraj, Kandegala Srinivas,Film actor Chetan expressed the difficulties faced by the tribal community during the meeting, concluded Amin Mohsin.
