Madikeri: As many as 18 rebel MLAs from Tamil Nadu who have been staying in a resort in Madikeri over the last ten days encountered trouble on Sunday when the police stopped them on pretext of questioning.
The state government of Tamil Nadu led by Palaniswamy is facing tough time with 18 MLAs, loyalists of sidelined party deputy chief T T V Dhinakaran expressing lack of confidence in Palaniswami’s leadership.
These MLAs have been living in a resort in Madikeri and on Sunday, when they were returning from Abbey Falls, the policemen waylaid them on pretext of questions. Raged by the attitude of the plainclothesmen, the MLAs lodged a complaint with jurisdictional police-Madikeri rural station. The MLAs have said that the incident is nothing but the CM’s desperate attempt to lure them so that his position remains intact.
The MLAs had earlier visited Talacauvery.
However, it was believed that even Dinakaran was supposed to visit the MLAs on Sunday, but he cancelled his plans.
Andipattai MLA Tamiltanga selvam told reporters that all the 19 MLAs are expected to participate in a huge protest rally to be held in Tiruchi on September19 against NEET. He said the MLAs will also meet leader Shasikala in Bengaluru on September 20.
