Madikeri: An accidental fall off a cliff in Kullu-Manali in Himachal Pradesh claimed life of a soldier from Kodagu.
The deceased is K S Rajesh (29), son of Shashi and Vathsala couple from Bethri of Virajpete. The mortal remains of Rajesh is likely to reach his native place either on Tuesday or on Wednesday.
Rajesh had joined Madras Sapper, an engineer group of the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army in 2007 and was thus deputed on duty at Kullu-Manali.
As per sources, on the night of December 17, Rajesh had ventured out to answer nature’s call and never returned. When his companions launched a search, he was found dead at foot of a cliff. He is said to have fallen off a cliff and had succumbed to serious head and spine injuries.
While the Post Mortem has been performed, sources say that freezing temperature in Kullu-Manali is posing impediments to flowing the body to his native village.
It is said that minutes before going out of his camp, Rajesh had spoken to his wife Shilpa for about 18 minutes. He is survived by his parents, who are daily wage workers, wife and his eight-month-old daughter Inchara.
