Kodagu: Lakhs of devotees flocked to Talacauvery in Kodagu district to witness the annual Theerthodbhava of river Cauvery which will occur on Tuesday.
As per the Hindu almanac, the Theerthodbhava is scheduled to occur at 12. 33 pm in the holy pond of river Cauvery at its birthplace in Talacauvery .
As per beliefs, mother Cauvery will spring at the ‘Kundike’ at the auspicious Thula sankramana muhurtham which will occur once in a year.
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the celebrations with lakhs of devotees thronging to the Talacauvery to witness this auspicious moment.
According to the distict police more than 600 additional constables, three DySPs are depupted to over see the security. Kannada and Culture department has organised several cultural events to mark the celebrations.
