Karwar: The incessant rainfall lashing over the district has left the farming community of Karwar in despair.
The rains that have inundated the fields have destroyed crops causing loss of lakhs of rupees.
The harvest season is around and a rain at this juncture of time can devastate the field. Unfortunately, that is precisely what has happened in almost all the talks of the district.
Thaku Deva Gowda, a local farmer had grown paddy on his one acre land. He was expecting good yield as he was ready to reap benefits in 15 days, but the monsoon played a spoilsport. The crops have been washed away in the rains leaving Gowda clueless about the future. Several people have lost their belongings due to rains and since the rain havoc have been recurring incidents in the district, the people have been demanding permanent solutions for their problems. They say that canals and storm water drains must be managed well as the rain water tends to overflow throwing life out of gear.
