Chikkamagaluru: When people’s representatives fail to fulfil their promises made to the public, it is the government officers who have often became a ray of hope.
Here in this coffee region, the locals have named a waterfall after Superintendent of Police Santhosh Babu for his noble work.
It is said that 12 years ago, few families moved to this place after the then government promised them of rehabilitation here. After relocating them, government failed to provide them any facility. But it was SP Santhosh Babu who managed to get electricity to this village. He is also responsible for identifying the waterfall and now the villagers have named it after him.
The name of the village “‘Guptashetty” was not given by any government but the villagers themselves. They named it combining the names of former SP Madhukar Shetty and DC Harsha Gupta in remembrance of their service. They were living the life of wild animals until these officers provided them basic facilities.
