Chikkamagaluru: When one thinks of a policeman, no matter which wing he is attached to, many think of a busy man wielding Lathi and fighting out the anti-social elements.
Here in Chikkamagaluru, a District Armed Reserve policeman has given a different picture of the police.
By showing the creative side of the police, he has surely done something worth emulating.
The cop in limelight is Prashanth, resident of Hulikere village in Sakharayapatna of Kadur taluk who joined the police service in 2012. He has authored a book on Geography and this 426 page book is going to be of a great help to school students, degree students and even those appearing for competitive examination.
Normally cops attached to DAR travel extensively and sometimes end up spending hours and days sitting quietly in their respective vehicles without doing any constructive work as they are called in only when there are serious law and order issues. So making use of the days when there was nothing much to do, Prashanth utilised it in a constructive manner.
He started compiling the book and as per sources, 15 questions out of 18 questions on geography appeared in the recently held Karnataka Administrative Service exam and 25 questions out of 28 appeared for high school teachers’ selection exam from this book.
Prashanth’s work is well appreciated by the readers as well as colleagues. The department has assured more support in future for his good work. He has donated few printed books free of cost to students from poor background.
Prashanth has proved many critics wrong by his unique effort and displayed that everyone cannot be measured using the same scale when it comes to creativity and hard work.
