Chikkamagaluru/Mysuru: With former minister V Srinivas Prasad all set to tender his resignation and sever all ties with the Congress on Monday, both the BJP and the JD(S) is making all efforts to lure the senior leader.
Addressing reporters in Koppa, Chikkamagaluru on Sunday, BJP State Chief B S Yeddyurappa said that Prasad has been contacted twice, however, his stand would be clear only after he tenders his resignation on Monday.
State BJP Backward Communities Morcha President DS Veeraiah met Srinivas Prasad who will be resigning as MLA on Monday and invited him to join the BJP. “Srinivas Prasad doesn’t belong to a particular community. He is a mass and national leader. If he joins the party, based on his directions, the party will be strengthened further,” he said.
Meanwhile, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy, speaking to reporters in Mysuru said that JD(S) leaders have met and spoke to Srinivas Prasad and if the senior leader decides to join the JD(S) he would be welcomed with open arms.
“Government has dropped honest ministers and included corrupt politicians in the cabinet,” HDK opined.
Meanwhile, Srinivas Prasad too has said that he is due to tender his resignation to the Assembly Speaker on Monday at 12 noon. “I have friends in all parties even BJP President BS Yeddyurappa called me to join the party but I will take decision only after having discussion with my supporters,” he said.
