Mumbai: The arrested accused in the case of Sheena Bora’s murder, Indrani Mukerjea, her driver Rai and second husband, Sanjeev Khanna, tried to secure bail, alleging police harassment, but the court disagreed and extended their police custody till Sept. 5th.

It was on the evening of April 24, 2012, Sheena, Indrani Mukerjea’s daughter was allegedly killed in a car, her body doused with petrol and then dumped in the desolate jungle area in Raigad.

The three prime accused in the Sheena murder case were produced before the Bandra magistrate court and their police custody was extended till September 5 after the Mumbai Police told the court about the status of the investigation. The prosecutor said police officials suspect the involvement of more people from outside Maharashtra. Khar police also informed the court they wanted to know where Indrani had disposed of Sheena’s mobile and clothes.

Lawyers for Indrani Mukerjea, told the court that she was interrogated for 80-90 hours and not allowed a minute of legal counsel, but it cut no ice with the Judge. Her continued incarceration is important for the Khar police as they have yet to crack her defence. According to sources, Rai and Khanna have ‘confessed’, but Indrani is yet to do so.

Earlier Rai, the driver was picked up by the police on August 21st in connection with an illegal firearms possession case and during interrogations, he spilled the beans on the Sheena murder case. Soon after, Indrani was arrested on August 25 and Khanna was nabbed from Kolkata on August 26 and all were sent to police custody till August 31.
