Bhubaneswar: Odisha received heavy rains in many parts due to a depression over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday. This is likely to cause more downpour over the state in the days to come.

The depression continues to move in the north-northeastward direction and is expected to reach close to Paradip very soon.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected along with thundershowers in some districts and interior areas of Odisha over the next 24 hours.

A local cautionary signal Number Three (LC-III) is advised to be hoisted at the Paradip and Gopalpur ports.

The Odisha coast line is expected to have strong and gusty surface winds that could reach up to 65 kmph and as the sea is expected to very rough, fishermen have been advised to stay away.

The unexpected rainfalls have dampened the lively spirits of the people and ruined the Diwali and Kali Puja celebrations in Odisha.
