Kannur: The police on Saturday apprehended six CPI(M) workers in connection with the murder case of Santhosh, a BJP worker at Andaloor in nearby Dharmadam a few days ago.
The accused, aged between 25-31, were Marxist party workers and sympathisers hailing from Andaloor, from where the victim also belonged.
It may be recalled that 53-year-old Santhosh was hacked to death within his house on January 18 at around 11 pm. He was alone at home at the time of the incident and had suffered nearly 21 injuries on his body.
While earlier the CPI(M) leaders claimed that the assault on Santosh was due to a fallout of a property dispute between his relatives, police have claimed it to be due to some political rivalry.
The incident was said to be in retaliation to the attack by alleged RSS workers on some Student Federation of India students who had gone on an excursion earlier.
A bandh had been observed by the BJP on the immediate next day protesting against the attack.
