Patna: The woman who triggered the bomb blast in the premises of the Ara civil court in Bihar’s Bhojpur district that killed two people has been identified, police said Saturday.

A day after two people – a woman and a police constable – were killed and more than a dozen injured in the explosion, police said a middle-aged woman, Rina Gaudh, carried the bomb and died in the blast.

“The police team probing the case are now trying to find out her motive and her relationship with two undertrial prisoners who escaped taking advantage of the incident,” a district police official said.

Bhojpur District Magistrate Pankaj Pal said it was not a terror attack but was aimed at helping two undertrial prisoners escape.

“This incident was a criminal act to help two undertrial prisoners escape when they were being brought to the court from the district jail,” he said.

Pandey, however, denied that the woman, a resident of Balia in Uttar Pradesh, was a suicide bomber.

“It was a coincidence that the bomb exploded in her bag when she was trying to adjust it,” he said.

Additional Director General of Police Gupteshwar Pandey said that a special investigation team (SIT) has began probe into the incident.
