UPPSC papers were being sold for Rs 5 lakh, exams cancelled

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exams, scheduled to be held on Sunday, were cancelled after reports that the question papers had been leaked.

According to CNN-IBN the papers were being sold for a whopping Rs 5 lakh each.
The exams were cancelled after protests broke out following the news of the leak. CNN-IBN reports that students had held demonstrations in Lucknow demanding that the examination be cancelled.

CNN-IBNquoted UP DGP AK Jain as saying, “We have cancelled the exam, those who are responsible will be punished. Paper was being distributed on WhatsApp.”

Jain told PTI said that police had got initial leads in the case. “STF teams are working on it and we will soon workout the paper leak,” Jain said.

The PCS preliminary examination was being held across the the state. The first shift was from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and second shift from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm.

District Magistrate, Lucknow, Rajshekhar said that the examination will he held as per schedule in the second shift.

“The paper in the second shift will be held as per schedule. As far as paper leakage is concerned, STF is probing the matter,” he added.
