Two pages of the controversial DLF-Robert Vadra deal are missing from government records. The file is related to a committee which was formed by the previous Haryana government to examine the rights of whistle-blower IAS officer Ashok Khemka who cancelled the mutation of Vadra-DLF deal.
Later, the committee gave clean chit to the deal between Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-kaw Robert Vadra and realty developer DLF and chargesheeted Khemka for misconduct.
The issue of missing pages came to light when Ashok Khemka got the copy of that particular file through RTI.In June this year, Khemka sought documents to ascertain how the official committee, which eventually gave a clean chit to Vadra, was constituted. He has now demanded registration of an FIR against those who dealt with the file in the previous government.
Responding to Khemka’s RTI application, State Public Information Officer DR Wadhwa said in an affidavit: “The undersigned made many efforts to trace out page no. 1 and 2 of the noting of the official file, but could not trace the pages. Hence, the pages could not be provided to the appellant.”
Following this, Khemka wrote to the state Chief Secretary asking him to file an FIR in the matter.
“The biased and one-sided report of the inquiry committee was an act of political vendetta and formed a spurious basis to wrongly chargesheet me for doing my duty. The noting sheets sought are likely to have been stolen by vested interests to avoid scrutiny of the wrongdoings of some officers…,” Khemka’s complaint stated, according to this Indian Express report.
“”RTI shows the files went to officers who were not authorized to check it. They also made comment on it which is beyond their rights. The vital pages are not missing, they have been detached,” Khemka told CNN IBN. He added that hehas been chargesheeted by the government for cancelling Robert vadra-Dlf land deal and that he has sought a copy of noted pages which were denied to him earlier.
Vadra has been accused of taking an interest-free loan of Rs 65 crores and heavy bargains on land from DLF Limited in exchange for political favors.
Haryana’s former director general, Consolidation, Ashok Khemka had cancelled the mutation of the land, in village Shikhopur, Gurgaon, following a deal between M/s Skylight Hospitality owned by Vadra and real-estate giant DLF Universal Ltd .
Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during his election campaign had said that he had no role in the deal and was ready to quit politics if his involvement was proved in land deals between Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law and DLF. He said, “Haryana government has nothing to with it. It is a propaganda against us. If anyone can prove that there is even one inch of government land, I will quit.”
