New Delhi: In his indomitable style, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took on the opposition parties while highlighting the achievements and goals of his government while addressing the Lok Sabha during the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address. While taking potshots at his rivals, Modi said that his only aim is to work for the country and ensure its development which can be achieved only if all the 125 crore people of India put in their efforts.

“My government has only one religion- India first. It has only one style of working- Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas (development for all),” Modi asserted.

He also said that India can progress only by working together and everyone should join hands to fight terror. “Colour of the flag does not guide governance, it is the Tricolour that guides our work,” he claimed.

He also took potshots at the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government and termed schemes launched by them like MNREGA a complete failure. “Questions have been asked if MNREGA has been shut down. I want to say that I will never shut down MNREGA. It is the evidence of the failure of the previous government,” he said.

He also said that he might be criticised for several things but everyone would agree that he is a good politician. “You can criticise me for everything, question me over various things, but you will have to admit that I’m a good politician,” he said with a smirk.

Modi’s speech in Lok Sabha was in reply to President Pranab Mekheejee’s address to the joint session of Parliament that took place on the first day of the Budget session. In his speech, the President had talked about the speed and direction of the development measures taken for India.
