New Delhi: Ahead of the February 7 polls in the nation’s capital, the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday released its manifesto, outlining its goals and mission for Delhi.

Releasing the manifesto, Arvind Kejriwal said that ‘our manifesto is like a holy book, we do what we say’.

The manifesto was finalised following a three-month Delhi Dialogue with different sections of the society. This exercise included round table discussions with residents, experts, NGOs, bureaucrats etc, to come out with the party’s blueprint for a better Delhi.

This time, AAP has come out with a 70-point agenda for the betterment of Delhi. The issues covered include swaraj, full statehood, clean water, cleaner Delhi, women’s safety, public health, empowerment of rural and village areas, to make Delhi a drug free city, connecting villages by metro, reducing unemployment, cleaning Yamuna etc.

Arvind Kejriwal also took the opportunity to take pot shots at BJP and Congress. “Congress released three manifestos in the past 15 years and has failed to address 80% if it’s promises,” he said.

“BJP didn’t see through any promises they made the last time so this time they aren’t even bothering to release a manifesto,” Arvind Kejriwal said.

The manifesto focused on the party’s agenda for ensuring development, women’s safety and water and electricity supply across the city.

“AAP’s manifesto is work of four months. It’s about what kind of Delhi we want. One where low class, middle class & everyone develops,” Arvind Kejriwal said

“We have made special reservations for senior citizens in our manifesto, and also the youth,” Kejriwal said.

“Environment, women, autowalas, traffic, economy, we have covered all these areas in our manifesto,” Kejriwal said.

The BJP, on the other hand, had announced that they will not be releasing a manifesto, but a vision document for Delhi. They said that the vision document will feature a roadmap for development and welfare of the people.

In its manifesto, AAP has vowed to legislate the Jan Lokpal Bill once it comes to power. The party will also push for full statehood for Delhi.

High electricity bills are a grievance of many and the Aam Aadmi Party has said it will reduce the bills by half.

In its manifesto, AAP assures clean drinking water to all of Delhi at an affordable price.
