DC asks AC, Tahasildars to file criminal case against lockdown violators

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner has asked the Assistant Commissioner and Tahasildar to file criminal cases against those who violate CrPC section 144 and ignore the direction of the district administration. The entire district is currently under lockdown, in accordance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement on March 24, in order to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

In her order, DC Sindhu B Rupesh informed that, even though the district administration had prohibited movement of all types of vehicles between the Dakshina Kannada district and Kerala, there were complaints of violations. There were also instances of violation section 144.

In order to strictly implement the prohibitory orders under CrPC section 144 and stop the spread of COVID-19, the Assistant Commissioner and Tahasildar have been ordered to file criminal cases against violators.
