IndianArmy00Bengaluru: Karnataka Ex-Servicemen Federation’, and Karnataka State Government Employee (Ex-Army) Association will be inaugurated by Supreme Court Judge and Former Lokayukta of Karnataka, N Santosh Hegde, on Sunday, January 13, at the KRI Conference Hall, Infantry Road, Bengaluru.

Chief guests of the ceremony will be Liuetenant General CR Sampath Kumar – PVSM AVSM VSM ADC (Retd), Air Marshal SY Savur – PVSM AVSM (retd) and Rear Admiral BR Vasanth AVSM (retd)

The event will be presided over by K Mathai (KAS), President, Karnataka Ex-Servicemen Federation and President, Karnata State Government Employees (EX-Servicemen) Association.

A press release from Mathai states that the state Government provides several facilities to the retired Army personnel residing in the state, but unfortunately in the recent years, ex-service men are forced to visit several government offices to claim their facilities.

“For instance, India had won the 1971 war against Pakistan in which many brave soldiers sacrificed their lives. During the war ex-Army personnel Anand had lost his leg in a bomb blast, and since then until this day, he is struggling to take over a piece of land alloted to him by the government. Ex-army personnel serving the State Government also face a lot of issues due to the negligence of concerned officials,” he said.

Spouses of ex-service men working as teachers in government schools were exempted from transfers until 2011. However, after 2011, exemption from transfer is ruled out resulting in a lot of inconvenience to the teachers, he stated in the release adding that the State Government has established ‘Army Welfare Department’, but it has come to notice that some officials who are supposed to work for the welfare of the Army personnel are not doing their jobs, causing injustice to them.

The Army Welfare Department also charges Rs 50 to Rs 150, to counter sign various forms such as scholarship forms of ex-Army, ID cards, children’s CET applications and many other papers. Such unfortunate incidents in the Army Welfare Department has been reported only in Karnataka, Mathai points.

Considering all these facts, several Ex-Army Organisations of the state have come forward to start ‘Karnataka Ex-Servicemen Federation’, and Karnataka State Government Employee (Ex-Army) Association, for the welfare of the retired Army personnel and former service men working in the state government. The organisation will also fight for the justice denied to the ex-servicemen.
