Bengaluru: Demanding the release of the relief funds, farmers from North Karnataka staged a massive protest here on Thursday, October 10.

The protesters demanded the construction of houses for the flood victims at a cost of Rs 10 lakhs, the release of Rs 25,000 per acre of cultivation land for damaged crops and Rs 25 lakhs for the flood-affected families who lost their kin.

They also demanded that the villages which repeatedly get affected by floods should be relocated and that the banks must stop issuing notices to farmers who are already facing problems due to the floods.

The enraged farmers did not even spare Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi, who reached the spot to assure them that the relief funds would be released. They told him to first release the funds and then speak to them.

Meanwhile, huge traffic congestion was observed on the Sheshadri road flyover and near Freedom Park.
