Hubballi: Samaja Parivarthane Samudaya (SPS) Founder President S R Hiremath has demanded the resignation of Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa, in the backdrop of government’s proposed move to amend the Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 (Section 68) to annul the right of the public on tanks and ponds that have lost the characteristics of water bodies.
Speaking to reporters in Hubballi, Hiremath said the Cabinet note prepared by the Revenue Department to annul public right over dried up water bodies was opposed by the RDPR Department, which said that this move may lead to development of unauthorised layouts.
He demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah should drop him from the Cabinet along with the proposed move.
Hiremath doubted that the agenda of vested interests and land mafia seemed to be there behind this move.
