Hubballi: “Congress government’s failures in taking effective steps related to illegal mining cases in the state would be the basis of the voters’ awareness campaign to be conducted by the Jan Sangram Parishat (JSP) in view of the upcoming Assembly elections next year”, said Samaja Parivartana Samudaya (SPS) Chief S R Hiremath.

Speaking to reporters, he stated that the voters’ awareness campaign would be conducted through distribution of pamphlets and booklets, holding rallies, and using other methods to reach the common people.

“Before becoming the chief minister, Siddaramaiah had promised to take strict action against those who were involved in illegal mining. But, his government has not taken effective steps in cases related to C category mines, unauthorised export of ore and the illegalities mentioned in the Lokayukta report. A resolution to make this an election issue and to create awareness among the people has been passed in the JSP’s state conference held in Davangere recently,” Hiremath explained.

A training workshop by Janandolanagala Mahamaitri on agrarian issues would be held at Ranebennur in Haveri district on October 11 and 12, in which noted litterateur Devanuru Mahadeva and others would take part, he noted.
