Civic workers being cheated, says Commission Chairman

Hubballi: The civic workers of both organised and unorganised sector are being cheated by their parent organisations in terms of providing minimum wages as per government orders, said Karnataka State Commission for Safai Karmacharis Chairman M R Venkatesh.

Speaking after an interaction with civic workers in Hubballi Venkatesh said, no organisation in Hubballi is providing minimum wage of Rs. 15,700 to its workers.

“Most of the civic workers in government and private sector are not getting basic facilities and minimum salary. They are giving less than Rs. 10,000 to it’s civic workers,” he said.

He directed the Labour Department Commissioner to take action against the government and outsource employers, who are providing least salary to civic workers. He asked the employers to support sustainable livelihood of civic workers, making use of government schemes and projects.

He warned of registering complaints against the employers if they are defaulting and also said that complaint will be given to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) if any big frauds were found in terms of civic workers’ salary matters.
