BJP plans continuous protests for development funds

Hubballi: The BJP city district unit has decided to stage continuous protests after September 25, alleging that District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni had failed to speed up developmental works in the twin cities.

“On the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s birth centenary, meetings of BJP workers will be held in all the wards on September 25 and details of the struggle would be finalised. Protests would also be staged in front of the residence of District In-charge Minister Vinay Kulkarni and HDMC Commissioner,” BJP Hubballi-Dharwad City District Unit President Nagesh Kalburgi said.

Speaking to reporters, he lamented that the state government was not responding to the needs of the HDMC, while HDMC Commissioner Siddhalingayya Hiremath was working as per the wishes of Vinay Kulkarni, instead of speeding up the developmental works.

The main roads in the twin cities are planned to be developed under Central Road Fund (CRF) for which the Centre has sanctioned money. But, he said, the state government had not initiated the tender process for many works planned under the CRF. If the pending pension grants are released, they could be used to develop interior roads, Kalurgi opined.

Corporators Veeranna Savadi, Shivanand Muttannavar, Mahesh Murli, Shivu Menasinkai and others were present.
